'Recompense' follows the story of disabled personal injury lawyer Sophie Pierce starting her new job at a law firm in Manchester, while her sister and live-in carer, Emma, sets up their new home in the tiny village of Edale, Derbyshire. Sophie is a brilliant junior lawyer, yet secretly, she believes that the legal system will never deliver the real justice she wants for her clients, or indeed for herself. The choice of her new village home seems strange to everyone - except Sophie, who, after years of resentment, has tracked down the doctor that caused her birth injury.
